| I waited
years before jumping on the digital camera bandwagon. In early 2005, I
decided to go to the coast of California to visit a friend and spend a
week getting familiar with my new camera. On my first beach walk I glanced
over at a retaining wall overlooking the Pacific Ocean and saw “angels”.
I was sure this image had been painted on the wall. Upon closer examination
I realized these angels were a naturally occurring breathtaking sight.
The angels were actually formed by whatever was coming out of the drain
pipes. What I didn’t understand was why a shrine hadn’t
been built at the foot of this amazing place. So I thought another California
pilgrimage would be in order...candles and flowers in tow!!! May these
angels watch over you. |

| In January
2007, my friend and I boarded a plane in Tallahassee, Florida, to go visit
the angels. We arrived at our motel after dark. I realized I had booked
our room, a spectacular glass haven hanging over the Pacific, a stones
throw from the angels. We immediately went to see the angels by moonlight.
My heart beat in double time as we got close to them. I had imagined over
the past two years the angels would be the same as when I first saw them.
Not so. In the moonlight we saw a huge protrusion on two of the angels. |

| Over the
next week we sat in our glass room and enjoyed the amazing changes the
Pacific coast had to offer. We realized the best surf was right
in front of our room…and the angels were watching over the surfers.
We visited the angels often bringing flowers and lighting candles. The
angels teach many lessons…pay
attention to what is around us, nothing is constant but change, and most
importantly, angels are everywhere. |
